Given the massive and urgent need for digital transformation, the FTD offers donors a structured platform to take effective action, with measurable and sustainable impact at the regional level.
The digital transformation of public administrations in West Africa is a key driver for improving governance, enhancing transparency, and supporting economic development. It also determines the ability of governments to meet citizens’ growing expectations regarding public services.
In this context, the role of technical and financial partners is crucial. Their involvement not only helps mobilize resources, but also helps structure investments, strengthen governance, and ensure the sustainability of projects.
The Digital Transformation Fund, led by BOAD and KfW, is a particularly relevant tool in this regard. It provides a proven operational framework capable of channeling funding to high-impact projects while ensuring rigor, transparency, and efficiency.
For donors, contributing to the FTD provides access to a portfolio of projects that are already structured, covering key sectors such as public finance, health, education, and local governance. These projects include, in particular, the deployment of e-government platforms, the implementation of integrated tax systems, and the strengthening of cybersecurity measures.
Beyond individual projects, the impact is systemic. Each investment helps modernize government agencies, improve public management, and create an environment more conducive to private investment and innovation.
Joining forces with the FTD means participating in a regional transformation initiative, supported by a structured framework, led by leading institutions, and focused on achieving concrete results.
From a long-term perspective, the challenge now is to build on this momentum. Strengthening and ensuring the sustainability of the FTD requires greater commitment from donors, who can provide additional resources and support the expansion of the mechanism.
